Yields are higher in the 10 year sector
The major European stock indices are ending the day with mixed results:
- German DAX fell -0.2%
- UK FTSE rose 0.6%
- France's CAC rose 0.2%
- Spain's Ibex rose 0.2%
- Italy's FTSE MIB rose 0.3%
- Portugal's PSI 20 rose 0.8%
In the 10 year note sector, yields are higher in trading today.
In other markets as London/European traders look to exit:
- spot gold is down $4.50 or -0.35% at $1261.13
- WTI crude oil futures are trading near high levels at $69.30 up $1.21 or 1.78%. The high reached $69.41. The US is asking allies to stop the import of Iranian oil by November 4.
- Bitcoin on the Coinbase exchanges trading down $78 at $6170. The price remains just above its 100 hour moving average at $6140. A move below that level will be more bearish for intraday traders. Staying above gives the buyer's some hope for further price increases
In the US stock market as the market looks to head into afternoon trading:
- S&P index is up 6 points or 0.23% at 2723.07
- NASDAQ index is up 17.08 points or 0.23% at 7549
- Dow is up 50 points or 0.20% at 24302.
In the US that market:
- 2 year 2.528%, -0.4 basis points
- 5 year 2.743%, -0.8 basis points
- 10 year 2.876%, -0.3 basis points
- 30 year 3.024%, unchanged
In the forex market at midday, the CAD has moved to the strongest currency on the back of the spike higher in the price of oil. The NZD remains the weakest currency. The USD is stronger with modest gains against all the major currencies with the exception of the CAD now.
