The major European stock indices are editing session with mixed results. The provisional closes are showing:

- UK's FTSE, -0.13%
- Italy's FTSE MIB, -0.18%
- Portugal's PSI 20, +0.7%
In the European 10 year debt sector, yields are marginally lower:
In the forex market in the early NY session, the GBP has given up its strongest currency to the AUD and NZD. The weakest currency remains the CAD, but the currencies are closely packed together today. The USD is mixed with modest gains vs the CAD, JPY, CHF and EUR and modest declines vs the AUD and NZD. The USD is near unchanged vs the GBP now.
In other markets ahead of Powell's speech (at the top of the hour):
- Spot gold is down $1.50 or -0.12% at $1213.50
- WTI crude oil futures are trading unchanged at $51.55
- Bitcoin is trading up $389 at $4155
- S&P index is trading up 12.3 points or 0.46% at 2694.44
- NASDAQ composite indexes trading up 36 points or 0.51% at 7118.58
- Dow is up 207 points or 0.84% at 24956.
