EU proposal would aim to bridge differences with Greece
EU officials are putting together a proposal at some type of midpoint between the Greek government and Eurozone finance ministers, according to MNI sources.
"The compromise seeks to remove certain controversial phrases that have blocked previous agreements between Greece and its partners," the report says.
Separately, US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew called Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis and urged him to strike a deal while saying "time is of the essence."
The market has been skeptical of trading Greek headlines and is also somewhat frozen ahead of the FOMC minutes. No significant reaction to the MNI report.
