Still no final decision on the top jobs in Europe
The EU28 leaders will reconvene again tomorrow at 0900 GMT to try and finalise things. This has been dragging on since the weekend and as it stands these are the so-called "favourites" for each post:
European Commission: Frans Timmermans (Netherlands)
European Council: Kristalina Georgieva (Bulgaria)
European Parliament: Manfred Weber (Germany)
Given the above, the political trade-off for Merkel and Macron should suggest that France get dibs on placing their candidate for the ECB presidency. So, Coeure or Villeroy?
