Current German Defense Minister gets nomination for EU Commissions top job
The EU leaders have nominated Germany's Ursula Von Der Leyen as EU commission President taking over from Jean-Claude Juncker.
Juncker is out with a comment that parliament approval of EU jobs, "won't be easy" and that Germany abstained in vote for EU top jobs.
Von Der Leyen is the current defense minister for Germany. She is the first woman in German history to hold the office. Previously, she served as Minister of Labour and Social Affairs from 2009 to 2013 and Minister of Senior Citizens, Women and Youth from 2005 to 2009. Prior to moving into politics, she was a physician.
She is the only minister who has served continuously in Angela Merkel's cabinet since she took office in 2005.
