EU leaders given until tonight to try and agree on selection for top jobs

Chaos continues to ensue in the European Council summit

Merkel

It's a complete mess as European leaders continue to fail to reach an agreement on who will take over the presidency of the European Commission, European Council, European Parliament, and the European Central Bank. Mind you, this has dragged on since the weekend.

The latest development is that parliament members will have up until 2000 GMT to submit candidacies for the European Parliament president and that also sets out the deadline for the other posts noted above.

When it comes to selecting these positions, it's more or less a "package deal" and most parties and countries will have already worked out a compromise or a plan on who will take over which specific position in order to benefit themselves the most.

Ain't it fun?
