EU Commission finally out with a statement 2 Oct
- Catalan issue is an internal one for Spain
- call on all players to move to dialogue
- violence can never be an instrument in politics
- Commission trusts PM Rajoy to manage situation
- Rajoy and Juncker to meet today ( Monday)
Politically guarded comments eventually from Brussels. Not going to change anything or anyone's opinion.
Also out a short while ago Germany's dep foreign min Roth:
- developments in Catalonia are worrying
- separatism doesn't solve problems
- political conflicts in EU are solved peacefully with dialogue, not violence in the streets
All a little too little and too late.
