Meeting with new UK Brexit minister Raab
- we must bring new energy to Brexit talks
- we want to conclude talks in October
- we need to conclude a legally operational Irish backstop
- UK proposal on security is a step forward
- there are major issues still to be discussed with Britain
- EU cannot and will not delegate customs policy to Britain
- Any customs arrangement with Britain must respect this principle
- any customs arrangement must be workable and not involve additional costs
- customs union would come with common commercial policy for goods
- Britain wants Irish backs up to the UK wide, we do not object in principle, but doubt if it can be done
Some of the skepticism has the GBPUSD tilting back to the downside. The price is moving back to the 200 hour MA, which held support earlier. A break below still has the 38.2% to get below at 1.31149 to increase the bearish bias.
