There were some huge flows overnight into the USD and out of emerging market currencies in Eastern Europe and in South America. The market is now waiting to see how the USD/Asian pairs open, with ACBs likely to intervene if the moves get over excessive.
If the ACBs do sell USD, then they will also have to sell EUR/USD, cable, and buy USD/JPY in order to balance their reserve ratios.
