It's ANZ New Zealand Truckometer day!
- Due at 2200GMT
- prior +4.1%
Also coming up today:
2350GMT - Japan - PPI for June
- expected flat m/m, prior flat also (energy prices dripping lower to weigh on this month's result)
- expected +2.0% y/y, prior +2.1%
0030GMT - Australia - Westpac Consumer Confidence Index for July
- prior -1.8% m/m ... this was its third fall in 3 months and said WPAC on the result: "now firmly back in pessimistic territory"
- Given the improving mood in the job market I expect we'll see a bit of a bounce today. The data does not tend to have much of an immediate forex impact though.
0130GMT - Australia - credit card purchases and balances for May
Later, due at 0430GMT, the focus for the Japan session is the Tertiary Activity Index for May
- expected -0.5% m/m , prior +1.2%
The fall m/m expected is partially a 'give back' from the big upmove the previous month. Despite the fall in the data expected today tertiary sector activity is still likely to be good positive growth for Q2 as a whole.
