Happy New Year to all!
The 2019 data agenda gets off to a slow sort of beginning, but we do get the private survey manufacturing PMI from China.
From the top:
2200 GMT Australia Commonwealth Bank / Markit Manufacturing PMI for December (final)
- the preliminary for this was 53.7
- prior was 54.6
0145 GMT China Caixin Manufacturing PMI
- expected 50.2, prior 50.2
- Last week we got the official PMIs from China, for Manufacturing it came in at 49.4, firmly into 'contraction' (for the first time since July of 2016)
- China proxy trades (such as the AUD) are likely to respond to this, a poor result will be a negative input while a strong result should be a positive input.
