Further comments by ECB member Villeroy
- ECB is on course for policy normalisation
Adding on to his comments earlier in the day. So far, the ECB has been constantly reiterating the same notion that markets are "right" in anticipating that the central bank will move some time around Q4 2019 to tighten policy.
However, that confident and calm facade is very much just to get across the finish line as they look to end QE at the end of next month. Following that, I reckon they'd be watching economic data signals more closely as the sluggish growth momentum in the Eurozone economy this year makes it difficult to argue a case for policymakers to justify tightening monetary policy.
