Comments by DUP parliamentary member Jeffrey Donaldson
- If UK leaves N. Ireland behind, that will put pressure on Scotland
- This deal would mean the end of UK's single market
- We do not fear a general election
- From what we have seen, we do not believe this deal is best for N. Ireland
- This deal has the potential to lead to the break up of the UK
This basically highlights the challenge faced by Theresa May as she is starting to lose support from her allies with the current Brexit deal proposal. Despite the positive tones, it'll all come down to how May can win the uphill battle in getting parliament to support her when it comes to a meaningful vote.
Right now, that appears to be a tough ask and further comments like these will only cement that expectation even more.
