Dollar sits on the softer side of the fence to start the day

Only the kiwi lags behind the dollar in terms of performance so far

Ranges are still very, very narrow on the day. USD/JPY is only trading in a 11 pips range, with EUR/USD in a 26 pips range. Despite the kiwi's underperformance, it is only sitting in a 19 pips range against the dollar.

That pretty much tells you how trading has gone for the most part so far. And no surprises there really, as liquidity in Asian trading today is thin in observance of a Japanese bank holiday.

The big mover has been the loonie as it gains following reported progress in NAFTA talks - but apart from that, nothing is really moving.

The greenback for the most part remains tepid ahead of the FOMC meeting later. Let's see if things will change in European trading.
