December 2014 US factory orders -3.4% vs -2.2% exp m/m

  • Prior -0.7%. Revised to -1.7%
  • Orders ex-transport -2.3% vs -0.6% prior. Revised to -1.3%

Durable goods revisions

  • Durables -3.3% vs -3.4% prior
  • Ex-transport -0.8% unch
  • Non-def cap ex air -0.1% vs -0.6% prior
  • Ex-def -3.0% vs -3.2% prior

Factory orders are still rubbish and have been revised even worse.

Not much to note in the durable revisions save for one pip off the original -3.4% loss and the cap goods shipments non def ex air being revised up to +0.2% vs -0.1% in the first release.

US factory orders mm 03 02 2015

US factory orders mm 03 02 2015

It’s the last of the factory orders data for 2014 and it won’t add anything positive to the next GDP revision.

As I’ve spoken about before this is one area the US will need to see pick up earlier in the new year
