December 2014 eurozone retail sales 0.3% vs 0.2% exp m/m

  • Prior 0.6%. Revised to 0.7%
  • 2.8% vs 2.0% exp y/y. Prior 1.5% revised to 1.6%
  • EU 28 states 0.3% vs 0.9% prior m/m
  • 3.2% vs 2.6% prior y/y

Looks like petrol and special stores (whatever the hell those are) led what little sales there were . They rose 2.3% vs 0.2% prior y/y in the EZ and 2.1% vs 0.1% prior in the 28 states.

Europe wasn’t exactly in a festive spending mood it seems. Only Belgium, Ireland and Austria pushed the boat out at the shops in December.
