Crypto hack can't stop Bitcoin's march

Bitcoin hits fresh record

Bitcoin rose above $8300 for the first time today after dipping as low as $7800 when The company behind the cryptocurrency announced a $31 million theft.

Tether has a market cap of more than $600 million. It's a cryptocurrency that's pegged and backed by fiat currency.

The hack took tokens from a tether wallet and that wallet was flagged by the company. Still, it's a reminder of the vulnerabilities of digital assets. Many exchanges purportedly use tether to hedge and transfer Bitcoin trades.
