Dow Jones is reporting that new week’s Canadian federal budget will be more austere than expected. On margin, that’s a negative for CAD, even though it sets the stage for longer-term gains. Measures aimed to curb consumption or housing will keep a lid on inflation and keep the BOC closer to the sidelines.
I can believe these rumors. The Harper government keeps a tight lid on information and Federal workers seem to be awfully worried about cutbacks.
