Canada's Foreign Minister Chrysia Freeland
She adds:
- spoke with Mexican, US counterparts Wednesday evening
- is encouraged by optimism of NAFTA partners
- US, Mexico progress on bilateral talks is an essential and encouraging step toward a new NAFTA deal
- Canada remains enthusiastic about modernizing NAFTA, ready to rejoin talks
Mexico and US have been going at it alone without Canada over the last month or so. As stated before, there is a lot of hope but the finish line is still elusive. Plus, Canada does need to agree as well and a concensus of the three must be met.
Time will tell but hopes for deals today or tomorrow, lead to hopes this week, lead to hopes this month, etc.....
