CANADA DATA: August consumer prices +1.2%(NSA y/y), +0.2(NSA m/m).
Year-over-year increase was led by higher prices for the purchase of
passenger vehicles (+2.0%), gasoline (+2.2%), meat (+5.7%) and food
purchased from restaurants (+2.2%). Core prices +0.3% (NSA m/m) and
+1.6% (NSA y/y). On a seasonally adjusted basis, consumer prices +0.4%
in August, ending three straight monthly declines.
CANADA DATA: Wholesale sales -0.6% in July vs -0.3% in June. The
subsectors that recorded lower sales were food, beverage and tobacco
(-1.5%), miscellaneous(-1.7%), machinery, equipment and supplies (-0.9%)
and motor vehicle and parts(-0.8%). Wholesale inventories climbed 1.2%
higher in July, rising for the eighth consecutive month. Inventory to
sales ratio rose to 1.23 from 1.21.
