Could May pull it off?
The ERG is seen voting with May tomorrow, according to ITV
Cable jumped to 1.2920 from 1.2865 on the headlines, which are crossing the newswires.
ITV's Robert Peston, who is well-regarded, reports that:
"Influential Tory Brexiter MP tells me he and his ERG Brexiter colleagues "will be voting with Theresa May and the government all day tomorrow" unless @hilarybennmp withdraws his amendment that would rule out a no-deal Brexit. My sense is @hilarybennmp will withdraw it today if persuaded that @oletwinofficial and @NickBoles have found alternative route to eradicate risk of no-deal Brexit."
Reading that, this spike is overdone. It says that Hilary Benn will likely withdraw his amendment, that would clear the way for the ERG to vote against May again.
