BOE to keep rates unchanged but first hike is dependant on the Fed

Latest Reuters poll show no change in BOE expectaions

  • All 52 polled said the BOE won't move at their meeting Dec 10th
  • 25bp hike still favoured in Q2 2016
  • 18/36 said that if the Fed stay put in Dec they would push BOE forecast further back

A lot of the comments are focused around the Fed and the message that comes from a hike or no hike. No hike would be generally seen as coming on worries about global growth while a hike would show positivity. Most economists see the BOE taking the same line

It's a fair point to say that the BOE will now wait until the Fed moves and squeeze out some last pound falls before they need to hike
