Big, unexpected demand in US 5-year auction

Five-year notes have been slammed down since the FOMC decision but real-money demand in today’s auction was undeniable.

The auction sold at 1.715% compared to 1.732% in the when-issued market before the sale. The nearly two basis point stop through sparked a short drop in benchmark yields and spilled over to some minor USD/JPY selling. Last at 102.32.
