Barclays puts investment manager on the block

Barclays Global Investors, the giant manager of mostly index funds and ETFs is on the market, the UK press reports. Barclays hopes to fetch GBP 5 bln for the San Francisco- based unit. Look for one of the big US custodial banks to make a run, as long as their overlords at the US Treasury go along.
