Austria's Kurz: There is currently no reason for a Brexit extension

A reminder that a Brexit delay still isn't a given at this point

  • Says that the 'chaos' in the UK hasn't changed
  • If situation in UK parliament changes, EU leaders could consider an extension

UK lawmakers will have before 10 April to break the current Brexit deadlock and it all starts with cross-party talks between May and Corbyn later this afternoon. If that fails, we'll have to move on to another round of indicative votes to decide the next steps.

Either way, I find it difficult to imagine the EU not granting an extension. If anything else, they could still offer a shorter one for the time being. This is more or less the exact situation before 29 March, except this time around there's the "hard" deadline of 22 May in the offing.
