Newly appointed prime minister Scott Morrison speaks in Canberra
- No plans for an election any time soon
- Immediate priority is to address the drought
- New ministry will be sworn in next week
- Will consider the makeup of his Cabinet over the weekend
There were talks of a possible early election being called in October overnight but with Morrison taking over at the helm it's not looking likely that will happen. Federal elections are only due in May next year, so there's still a lot of waiting to do in the meantime.
