Latest Reuters poll on the Australian economy
- Median economic growth forecast for 2018 at 2.9%
- Forecast of 2.8% for 2019
- Forecast of 2.7% for 2020
- CPI inflation seen averaging 2.2% in 2018, 2.4% in 2019 and 2020
Economists are still expecting steady growth in spite of growing global trade tensions, and that highlights a more positive outlook for the Australian economy - considering that we're seeing a bit of a slowdown in China's economy (Australia's biggest trading partner).
The inflation forecast seems a bit optimistic though, but if it hovers above 2% then the RBA will surely be happy. In Q1, the trimmed mean reading (RBA's preferred measure of inflation) was only at 1.9%.
