There is still no news of relevance for Australian politics re the leadership challenge
If you are in Australia and happen to be tuned in to the news you'd be excused for thinking this is some sort of historic occasion. I suppose the media have airtime to fill, but reruns of Gilligan's Island would be preferable.
As I posted earlier …
Yesterday Australian Prime Minister Turbull set two conditions for a party room meeting to decide the leadership
If the conditions are met the meeting will go ahead at noon (Sydney time), which is 0100GMT
The conditions:
1. Turnbull is waiting on advice from the Solicitor-General to decide whether the main challenger (Mr Dutton) is eligible to sit in Parliament. The advice from the Solicitor-General is the only valid, legal advice on the question, no other opinions matter (even those in the internet comments!)
- So far (as I post) the advice has not been received.
2. And, Turnbull requires a letter signed by a majority of Liberal Party members of parliament calling for a meeting.
- Ditto on this, as of this post this has not been received.
Just a heads up … there is still no new news on either of these. None.
If there is I'll let ForexLive know.
In the meantime …
