Australia – July employment data

  • Employment Change July: -10.2K (vs. expected 6.0K, prior +9,300, revised from 10.3K)
  • Unemployment Rate July: 5.7% (vs. expected 5.8%, prior 5.7%)
  • Full Time Employment Change July: -6.7K (vs. prior of -4.4K)
  • Part Time Employment Change July: -3.5K (vs. prior of 14.8K)
  • Participation Rate July: 65.1 (vs. expected at 65.3%, and prior of 65.3%)

The AUD is dipping on the worse than expected labour force data. There are bids around for AUD, so i expect it will find support

There is no doubt this is a poor release, but like I said prior, this is a volatile series of late. Note that ‘hours worked’ increased for a second consecutive month
