Bank of Israel hkes to 0.35% vs 0.25% expected

  • Surprisingly hawkish move from the Bank of Israel

In the first rate hike since 2018, the Bank of Israel boosted its benchmark rate to 0.35% from 0.10%. The consensus estimate was 0.25% as the hawkish surprises continue.

This week, the Bank of Canada is expected to hike 50 bps on Wednesday and the ECB may be forced into a more-hawkish stance.
