SNB may cut deposit rate to -1.5% (from -0.75% currently) if CHF goes wrong way

Bloomberg report the Swiss National Bank (SNB) might cut its deposit rate further if the Swiss franc moves in the 'wrong direction'

  • From -0.75% currently to -1.5%
  • Bloomberg refer to a report in Schweiz am Sonntag, where unidentified people close to the SNB are cited
  • Says SNB board wants the CHF at 1.1 euro

No further details, nor link at this stage.

EUR/CHF, past month:

Given the extra-skittish nature of all things CHF related sinc the SNB pulled the rug out from under the market, I expect that a CHF fall on Monday morning (with a gap) would not surprise on a headline like this.

I'll try to get more detail on the report ahead of the Monday opening.
