Answers questions after speech in Washington
The Fed's Rosengren is answering audience questions after his speech in Washington.
Says:
- there are some real benefits to moving gradually on rates
- Must watch if inflation picking up more than thought
- Have not seen wages go up very rapidly yet
- Can take bit more risk if it expectations well anchored
- A gradual path of interest rate rises reduces risk of serious policy mistake
Rosengren is not a voting member of the Fed in 2018. He will be a voting member in 2019.
