Stanley Fischer, who was mentioned as a candidate to lead the Fed before Yellen’s nomination, is a leading candidate to be named Deputy Fed Chief. He would replace Yellen.
Fischer was the governor of the Bank of Israel from 2005 – June 2013 and the chief economist at the World Bank previously.
Bloomberg cites a ‘person familiar’ with the nomination in the report. The Wall Street Journal also says the White House is ‘near to nominating’ Fischer to the post.
He’s a great candidate … the only bad thing you can site is the confusion of a ‘Fisher’ and ‘Fischer’ at the Fed.
