Further comments by ECB chief economist Peter Praet
- Markets are expecting end of QE at the end of 2018
- That's an observation and input for discussion
- Expects interest rates to remain at present levels for an extended period of time
- Will remain so well past the horizon of the end of QE
Well, my view is that the central bank would announce an end to QE either in June or July - and announce that it plans to end it this year, but probably with a caveat that they may re-evaluate it when the time comes or along the way.
Always the case with central banks. First thing is to look for the exit when things go south.
