BOJ's Kuroda says easing is to achieve price target

Comments from BOJ governor Kuroda as he speaks in parliament

  • BOJ easing won't continue if CPI reaches 2% in stable manner
  • Any normalisation will take into account economic effect
  • Once the BOJ starts normalising policy, it will be a gradual process
  • Won't continue aggressive monetary easing once price target has been achieved and economy growing stably
  • Financing public debt is not part of BOJ's mandate

That's all from Kuroda for the moment. No changes in stance, but feels like it's more of a response towards those who are expecting the BOJ to start moving towards tightening monetary policy in the near future - following the decision to "taper" JGB purchases earlier today.
