BOE's Carney says interest rate increase will be limited and gradual over next few years

BOE governor Mark Carney is in a press conference taking questions now

  • There is always uncertainty when it comes to Brexit
  • It will be "pretty obvious" if UK is no longer on this Brexit path
  • Household interest rate expectations of a rate rise this year feel about right
  • Will have enough information to make a decision on interest rates in August, even with new ONS schedule

Nothing new in the comments here, but on the one about the schedule the BOE is set to meet on 2 August while the first estimate of Q2 GDP will only be released on 10 August. I'm guessing Carney will at least have some semblance of those figures ahead of the meeting otherwise it'll be foolish to make a decision on interest rates in blind-fashion.
