Poloz spoke to CBC Radio
Comments from the BOC's Poloz to CBC Radio haven't crossed the newswires yet.
Here are some highlights:
- "As the economy continues to evolve as it has been, it will be the case that it will need less monetary stimulus in the future," he said.
- "There are a lot of things that have to come together before we feel confident that we're all the way there."
- BOC is most-worried about how rate hikes will affect highly-indebted consumers
- Poloz expects rate hikes will hit harder than in the past
- "Because of all that debt, we aren't as sure as we normally would be what would be the response of the economy to a higher rate of interest."
- "We believe that investment in Canada today is lower than it otherwise would be without that uncertainty about the outlook for NAFTA."
These are more very dovish comments from Poloz and could lead to another round of USD/CAD gains. Last at 1.2850.
The BOC also announced today that Poloz will appear in Parliament on October 31.
