The BOC deputy gov Timothy Lane was speaking in Toronto a little while back and didnt appear to give away any clues in relation to monetary policy. Comments he did make included:
- Main risk seen in Canada is in relation to housing
- Risk of household debt getting smaller but has not yet disappeared
- Shadow banking – has benefits for the economy but needs reforms to make it safer
USD/CAD has done little during NY trading with the pair remaining well supported on dips ahead of the 1.0455-60 region. While this supports potential remains for a bounce back to 1.0550.
