Abe had this to say:
In the South China Sea, even as we speak, confrontations between countries are continuing because of unilateral action backed by force.
The proposed shift would allow Japanese troops known as the “Self-Defense Troops” to come to the aid and defense of allies even if Japan itself isn’t under attack.
Chatter like this is just the sort of geopolitical tension that will send Abe’s yen in the opposite direction of his stated economic goals, no?
