From Statistics New Zealand:
- “Total retail spending using electronic cards increased 1.1 percent in June 2013, after adjusting for seasonal effects
- Every industry has had an increase in the amount spent during the month (the last time this occurred was in August 2012)
- Fuel and hospitality spending had the largest rises of the retail industries
- Core retail spending (which excludes vehicle-related industries) increased 0.7 percent”
The earlier NZIER Business Opinion Survey was very strong also.
NZD/USD has ticked a little higher on these results, though running into sellers just above 0.7800 now
AUD/USD has moved up with the kiwi, but there are sellers in AUD around current levels holding it here (AUD orders post)
